Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. Why is this transition happening?
IH Sydney Training Services has announced its closure effective 9 Dec 2024. To support affected students, Greenwich College has been appointed by the new administrators (PFK Consulting) as the exclusive partner to facilitate a smooth transfer of enrolments and ensure students can continue their education without disadvantage. Students will be given the option to study at Greenwich under very favourable terms.
2. What will happen to my current enrolment?
If you are an IH student, your enrolment may be transferred to Greenwich College simply and easily. You will be issued a new letter of offer (LOO) and confirmation of enrolment (COE) This includes students currently studying as well as those who have not yet commenced their studies and all visa types. As part of the transition agreement, Greenwich College will honour tuition fees already paid to IH so you will not need to re-pay any tuition fees already paid.
You will not need to attend any class until your new enrolment commences at Greenwich (see point 4 for start dates).
3. Will my course and study location change?
Greenwich College offers many courses that are an exact match to those previously offered by IH, with campuses in Sydney, Melbourne, Gold Coast (Southport), Adelaide, and Perth. Most students will be enrolled in the same course, and same location with no change to their expected completion date. For students studying in Darwin, please see point 4 below.
For students where an exact match is unavailable, Greenwich College will work with you to transfer to a similar course on favourable terms to ensure your study goals are met. You will be able to study any vocational course at Greenwich College and pay only the total remaining amount you had left to pay for your tuition at IH.
4. How will I receive details about my new enrolment?
Greenwich College will contact you directly by 20 December 2024 with details about your new enrolment, course timetable, and next steps.
5. What if I am a student based in Darwin?
Greenwich College does not have a campus in Darwin. Students in Darwin will need to identify an alternate provider. We recommend registering with the Tuition Protection Service (TPS) for guidance and support: https://www.education.gov.au/tps.
6. When will my new classes commence?
- ELICOS students: Classes will commence on 30th December 2024.
- VET students: Classes will commence on 13th January 2025 or 20th January 2025, depending on your specific course.
7. What about my visa and other requirements?
Your visa will remain valid as long as you transition to a new course and provider. In most cases Greenwich will be able to offer students the exact same course with the same remaining duration of study so you may not need to change. If you are in a situation where you may need a visa extension, you may be eligible for a free Visa Application Charge. Details are available here: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/student-500/education-provider-default
8. What should I do next?
- Await communication from Greenwich College. We will send you emails with details to commence your transfer. You will receive detailed instructions about your new enrolment, course schedule, and next steps in the coming days.
- If you are a Darwin-based student, register with the TPS for support.
9. Will I need to pay additional tuition fees?
