Pearson's research shows that advanced English speakers report higher job and income satisfaction than beginners. Nearly 90% of advanced speakers are happy with their jobs, compared to less than two-thirds of beginners.

 Key findings include:

• Even though 85% of workers recognise the importance of English skills, only 25% feel confident in all English skills at work, and 60% use English weekly.

• Three-quarters believe better English would make their jobs easier.

• 88% think employers should offer more English training, but only a third have received it.

• 54% lack sufficient English training, and 56% find past instruction too focused on grammar and vocabulary, neglecting everyday usage.
